I apologize again this week for being mostly absent from the blog world - with the busy Christmas season and preparing for vacation in just a few days, my free time has been eaten up by my To Do list.  :)  However, I will at least get Cash Wise deals up this week!  I hope to get that done for you tonight.

Indoor Playground at Hutchinson Rec Center

Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:30 am to 11:30 am there is an Indoor Playground at the Hutchinson Rec Center.  The cost is just $1 per child / $2 per family - or a $35 family pass good through April 30, 2010.

I've never been to this, so I'm not sure what kind of playground equipment they have, but it sounds like it would be a great way to spend some of these cold winter days!

There are quite a few other activities going on at the Rec Center as well, check out the full schedule HERE

Search to Earn a $25 Disney Gift Card!

I've told you a couple times about Swagbucks, but now I have another reason...and it makes me very, very excited!

First, Swagbucks...what is it?

It's a website that you search through, like Google, only you can earn "bucks" for searches you do.  Your account builds with these Swagbucks and you can use them to enter various contests, or purchase gift cards and other items.  You search results are populated through Google, so they are very reliable!  It's a super simple way to earn a bit of extra on the side with normal internet activity you probably already do.  (There are a couple other ways to earn as well, but I won't go into all that...unless you want me to!)

I currently have 109 Swagbucks, and I truly don't do much searching throughout the day.  I earn maybe 1-4 bucks a day.  (You don't get credit for EVERY search you do-it's random).  With those Swagbucks I have fully intended to purchase a few $5 Amazon.com gift cards at 45 Swagbucks each.  Score!

HOWEVER, I just found they have a DISNEY GIFT CARD!  Since Disney World is where we choose to vacation, this will be a great benefit for a future vacation!!  It's a $25 Gift Card and is currently running at 295 Swagbucks.  So, I've got a ways to go...but it's worth it!  I will just keep searching away and letting that account build!!

If you have any questions about Swagbucks, feel free to ask!  Or, check it out and sign up HERE

**If you sign up through my link above, I will earn some extra bucks, and you'll help me get closer to that Disney Gift Card!  :)

You can also skip signing up for the newsletter altogether by just closing the pop-up box! :)

Missing in Action

I apologize I have been "missing in action" lately.  I have been very busy, focusing on getting things ready for Christmas and our upcoming vacation...which results in me having even less time and my blogging, both reading others and writing, has come to a complete stop.

I do plan to be back in action soon! :)

Attempting Christmas Crafting...might get interesting....

I am always looking for crafts to make with Henry - especially now with the weather being colder and us having to stay in doors.  He really enjoys doing all sorts of crafts.  And while I'm not the most talented person in the cutting, creating, pasting department-we still have a good time and create things that at least halfway resemble what they are supposed to!

The biggest problem is thinking up ideas!  I try to brainstorm, I search the internet, I read blogs, I read magazines and try to grab anything I think I can do with a two year old.

I just got an email on a new Christmas Craft eBook, "Quick and Easy Christmas Crafts"  I like the title of that!  It's got 25 craft projects in it, some do require talent I don't have - like sewing, but quite a few are very easy.  They go through step-by-step, some with pictures to assist, and I know I can adapt some of the tougher ones to be more "Brook and Henry Friendly". Ha!

This is an example, the milk cap ornament.  We could totally do this!  And we certainly have enough caps with how much milk that little boy drinks. :)

Anyway, click HERE to download the pdf, which you can then save onto your computer and access anytime you want to get your craft on.  You can also sign up for the newsletter they offer to get regular crafting ideas emails.

If you happen to be truly craft talented, some of these could make great gifts too!

BOGO Candy Cane Chill Blizzard at Dairy Queen

I love peppermint.  I can go through a box of candy canes in NO time.  Mints are a common thing in my purse, but they never last long.  So, I was pretty thrilled when Dairy Queen sent me an email for a BOGO Candy Cane Chill Blizzard!

Click HERE to print/request the coupon! (expires 12/15)

Hutchinson Area Printable Coupons

Be sure to sign up with myGR8Deal.com for Hutchinson area coupons.

Each week they send out a new set of coupons, here a few highlights for this week:
  •  $3.00 off a $20 or more guest check at Country Kitchen
  • Free in-town delivery at Crow River Floral & Gifts
  • 10% off any purchase at Hutchinson Discount Center
It's a free site to sign up for and they are delivered directly to your email inbox.  The only drawback I see on these coupons is many of them expire quickly - some as early as the end of the week.

Coupons.com Reset

Today is December 1 and I found several of the coupons over on Coupons.com have been reset....but a few haven't - I wonder if they will be??  I'll be sure to report back as I see new ones emerge.

The toy coupons are still there (yay!), some great cereal coupons, along with a few new good ones I noted:
  • $1.00/2 Ghiradelli seasonal chocolates (last time this one went FAST)
  • $1.00/1 Bausch & Lomb Renu contact solution
  • BOGO Steaz Organic Iced Tea - I have read you can get these at Target, but I haven't seen them yet at ours in Hutch.
Click HERE to go check 'em out and print.  For most of them you should be able to print two.

*When you click through these links to coupons.com and print even just one coupon, I do receive a small commission.  I truly thank you for supporting my family and this website in this manner!

I want to apologize for the delay on putting out the Cash Wise match-ups.  I usually have them done Sunday afternoon, but the sickies have been passing around in our house, first me, then Henry, now Joe...and Henry and I are still recovering.  My energy has been zapped lately and I haven't been sleeping well, mix that with the holiday and shopping....WHEW!

I do have about half the list done and should get them up tomorrow!  Thanks for your patience. :)

Swagbucks Gift Card Sale

Swagbucks is a site that you can do internet searches through and shop through to earn "bucks".  It's very easy, you will earn at least 1 buck a day just by searching - and their search results are powered through Google so they are good and legit.  I've easily earned over 90 Swagbucks over the past couple of months, and I really don't do a lot of searching.

You turn in your earned Swagbucks for various merchandise, including gift cards.  The best deal that I think they have is the $5 Amazon.com card for 45 Swagbucks.

Everyday between now and January 1 Swagbucks is having at least one of their gift cards on sale!  Currently it's the $5 PayPal gift card, normally 190 Swagbucks, and now-for a limited time, only 70!  I'm hoping the Amazon.com one goes on sale...we'll see!

Click HERE to sign up for Swagbucks, you get 3 bucks to start with.  Then refer all your friends and you can earn even more bucks!

Cyber Monday

Tomorrow is Cyber Monday!  Last year we purchased a GPS at a fantastic price that we have never seen so low since!  Plus free shipping!

Good deals are going to abound tomorrow, and CyberMonday.com is a nice one-stop site that lists many of the deals to be had.

Amazon.com has their Cyber Monday deals listed HERE - looks like some deals are even going on now and others start at 4:00 Central.

A quick example of a deal they are listing - $5.00 for Chris Tomlin's "Glory in the Highest" CD, normally priced at $12.99.

If you are going to be shopping online today or tomorrow, or any day for that matter, use a cash back or points site to stretch your buck - you can find almost any site through at least one of these programs.

For cash back sites I like:
And for points sites I like:

New Target Coupons

All the previous Target toy coupons expired on Wednesday; however, Target just released a slew of new ones!

Click HERE to visit Target's new coupon generator.  It seems different ones load each time for me, so using the menus on the left help to select which category you need.  If you want the toy coupons they are under "Holiday Catalog".  There are also some for movies and electronics, such as $5 off any Blu Ray movie.

These coupons change often, so my advice would be to print any you think you might use at some point, you never know what is going to go on sale at Target either, so it's a good idea to print, print, print!  Remember, Target coupons can be stacked with manufacturer coupons too.  There are also print limits on Target's site - generally two per computer.

Free item with $10 purchase at Bath & Body Works

A few days ago I got a coupon in the mail from Bath & Body Works for a free item, up to $13 in value with any $10 purchase.  What a deal!!

Even better, this coupon is available online HERE.

So, if you have someone on your Christmas list that enjoys Bath & Body Works products, this is a great way to spoil them without breaking your budget - or select something nice for yourself!

$1.50 All Bran or Wheatables Crackers Printable Coupon

There is a new $1.50 off 1 box of All Bran crackers HERE.  I have read that some Targets have these crackers for just $1.99, so $0.49 after coupon!

While you are there, check out the $1.50 off Wheatables too.  Not sure on the price of these - but will most likely make some pretty cheap crackers.

Annie's Organic Grocery Coupons

Here are a couple coupons for Annie's organic groceries:

Free Sample of True Lemon

Click HERE to request you free sample of True Lemon packets.

When I first saw this a few moments ago, my first thought was "What is that?!"  I've never heard of it!  So....

"For the first time ever, fresh squeezed lemon and lime taste is as simple as a tear of a packet or a shake of a bottle thanks to True Lemon and True Lime, the original crystallized lemon and lime substitutes, in packets and shakers.

True Lemon and True Lime can be used anywhere you would use lemon or lime juice and make the use of these popular fruits convenient and easy."

Sounds pretty handy!  Thanks Carrie for the link!

New Toy Printable Coupons

I was just out browsing Coupons.com to see if any coupons had reset (they generally reset around the 1st) and I noticed a couple new toy coupons out there - $3.00 off a Sid the Science Guy plush toy from PlaySkool and $5.00 off any $20.00 (or more) Hasbro Star Wars toy purchase.

All the other Hasbro and PlaySkool coupons are still out there - they might disappear VERY soon.  So if you haven't printed them yet, I'd do it ASAP.  These coupons don't expire until January, so you might be able to scoop up some amazing deals on after Christmas sales!

Click HERE to go browse the coupons and print 'em.

Cash Wise Peelie Alert - $0.43 2 Liters

I did MEGA shopping yesterday at Cash Wise.  I ended up spending the entire grocery budget, so that means little to no grocery shopping for me next week.

I got some AWESOME deals though, here are a couple of my favorites:

These are on sale for $0.98 each.  There is a small shelf/end-cap unit near the freezer section (deli side) with regular and diet Dr. Pepper with $0.55 peelies!  The peelies are a pain in the patooty to get off, BUT, it's worth the effort to only pay $0.43 each.  Limit 10.  (Other Pepsi products also on sale for $0.98)

Cream of Chicken and Mushroom soups on sale for $0.72 each.  Use 2 $1.00/4 Campbells Cream Soup printable coupons found HERE (use your back button on your internet browser to print 2).  Use In-Store/Flyer coupon to get the Pepperidge Farm Stuffing mix free wyb 8 soups.
Final Price, $3.76.  You can choose to get another Stuffing Mix ($1.98) and then use $1/2 printable coupon found HERE.  Final price would then be $4.76 for 10 items.

I also got a 16 pound Jennie-O turkey for $6.48!!!!  $0.40 per pound.  They had them fully in stock, all sorts of sizes.  The bin had turkeys, plus they had a cart full next to the bin, and you could ask the meat counter for a different size if needed.  I still have yet to see them in stock at Wal*Mart....!

Target Play to Win game, plus free Medium Soda coupon

Target has a daily sweepstakes called the "Target 2 Day Sale Giftacular Sweepstakes" running until 11/26.  There are over $200,000 in prizes.

If you don't win, you will still be able to print a coupon for a Medium Soda good at the Target Cafe on 11/27 and 11/28 (Black Friday, and Saturday).

Black Friday Ads

We will be going to the Cities on Black Friday for some shopping.  We don't ever do the 3:00 am thing, but we like to go out on that day and just see what we can get, have a family shopping day, lunch and do whatever else we find.  Last year we got a GREAT GPS for my father-in-law for $80!

I have been planning our Christmas list, what stores we need to hit and browsing the Black Friday ads.  In case you haven't already heard, yep....they are online!

Check out this site:  Black-Friday.net

You will find Target, Wal*Mart, Ace Hardware, Menards, Bath & Body Works, and tons more!
Even online stores like amazon.com are having Black Friday sales that are listed on this website.

I also had a friend tell me that Target is allowing you to buy an item now, then come back on Black Friday and they will adjust the price for you.  I want to ask Customer Service again to be sure she wasn't getting an employee that just was chatting and not stating a fact - but wow! wouldn't that be great?!

Menu Plan Monday

I am loving Menu Plan Monday.  It really helps keep me on track and not have to play the "Uh...what are we having for dinner?" "I don't know, what do you want?" "I don't know, what do we have?" game with Joe.  Worst.Game.Ever!  :)

Here is what I have planned for this coming week, in no particular order.  Thursday we will be at my Mother-In-Law's for Thanksgiving dinner and Friday we will be eating out.

  • Southwest Roll-Ups, Spanish rice (I am out of the box stuff-gonna try to make my own-any recipes out there?), refried beans
  • Ham, scallopped potatoes, rolls, brocolli (never made it last week)
  • Chicken burgers, oven fries, soup
  • Diet Coke chicken, rice, green beans
  • leftovers

My adventures in cooking

I just wanted to share a couple successes I had last week in the kitchen.  Since I'm cooking much more often than I ever have in my life, it's been kinda fun-and scary-to see what I might come up with.

I made a roast in the crockpot.  I threw in some onions, a can of Cream of Mushroom soup, some Worcestershire sauce, a clove of garlic, some beef bullion, beef gravy, water and some salt and pepper.  It all sounded good, but would it be?

The result...

Yum!  It was a juicy roast with a nice sauce to go over it!

Knowing we probably wouldn't get to the leftover roast, I took it and made soup.

Again, just kinda threw a bunch of stuff into the crock...the meat, onions, a can of peas, a can of corn, can of carrots, beef bullion, water, and rice...let it cook for 6 hours or so.  We had it for lunch the next day and the it got a big two thumbs up from Henry and hubby.  Henry ate so much I thought he might split down the sides!  I couldn't believe he was eating all those veggies and asking for more.  YAY!

I don't usually serve canned veggies, but they were a total steal at Target and it worked slick in this soup....plus it was easy.  I quickly put this all together in just a few minutes because I had everything pre-sliced or canned.  I made it just before we ran out the door for dinner at my Mother-In-Law's.

I think I am going to offer more canned veggies to Henry to see if that is what he will prefer...some veggies are better than none, right?

50% off everything at Dairy Queen today only

Today is Dairy Queen's Customer Appreciation Day!

I am not certain if they would still accept the coupons from the newspaper inserts or the BOGO Blizzard coupon I mentioned HERE.  It's worth a shot, doesn't hurt to ask!  If we end up going (likely), I'll report back.

I also don't know if this is only the Hutch DQ or if all DQs across the nation are doing this today....their website doesn't list anything about it, so I'm thinkin' this might be a Hutch only thing...

Cash Wise Foods Deals and Coupon Match-Ups 11/22 - 11/28

I wasn't expecting Cash Wise ad to arrive with the Shopper this weekend, but it did!  As I already noted previously, the first thing I saw on the flyer was that turkeys are $0.40/lb.  That brought a big smile to my face!  (they are still advertising to beat any price in town on the turkey as well).  I haven't ever seen them in stock at Wal*Mart, and the next cheapest was $0.69/lb at Econo.  We aren't hosting Thanksgiving or Christmas this year, but cheap meat is always good!

And might I say, after a couple months of mediocre sales, it's nice to see the low prices again!

The new ad hosted a few other additions/changes - if you see something I missed, please let me know!:

Free Dassel Activity - Smithsonian Exhibit

In case you haven't heard a traveling exhibit from the Smithsonian is in Dassel.

Yes, Dassel.

Kinda took me by surprise too!  It is actually created for small, rural communities, which I think is really cool.

The exhibit is called "Between Fences" and there is no charge to visit it.  It is located at the  Dassel Area Historical Society, 901 First Street, and will be there until December 5, 2009.

The hours are as follows:
Monday: 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Tuesday - Friday: 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Saturday: 9:00 am-1:00 pm
Sunday: 12:30 - 3:00 pm

About the Exhibit: We live Between Fences. We may hardly notice them, but they are dominant features in our lives and in our history. Built of hedge, concrete, wood and metal, fences skirt our properties and are central to the American landscape. We use them to enclose our houses and neighborhoods. They are decorative structures that are as much part of the landscape as trees and flowers. Industry and agriculture without fences would be difficult to imagine. Private ownership of land would be an abstract concept. But fences are more than functional objects. They are powerful symbols. The way we define ourselves as individuals and as a nation becomes concrete in how we build fences. Through an examination of boundaries, place, and space, Between Fences will explore how neighbors and nations divide, protect, offend, and defend through the boundaries they build.
