Off to the Pumpkin Patch!

This morning we are off to the pumpkin patch!  As you can see by the picture above, we are going to the A maze'n Farmyard.  I've never been here, I'm pretty excited about what I've read and heard about it!  I think Henry will have a ball.

I just hope it warms up!

Happy Saturday all!

$0.52 for two boxes of spaghetti at Target

Last night at Target I noticed the Ronzoni Healthy Harvest box of spaghetti was only $0.76.  Pair that with the $1/2 boxes printable coupon --> HERE <-- and you pay just $0.52 for two boxes of spaghetti, or $0.26 each.

This is whole wheat pasta as well, so it's better for you - and we have tried it before, it's very good!  Even Henry ate it.  And I don't think Joe even noticed it was wheat...hee hee.

More candy printables = Free candy!

Okay, so just a while ago I told you about printable Target coupons (read that post --> HERE <--)

Now, it's even sweeter.

I just realized that there are two new coupons available over at coupons.com for candy!

I am using zip code 56301:
Save $2.00 on any Wonka 24 oz or larger candy bag, --> HERE <--
Save $2.00 on any Nestle 24 oz or larger candy bag, --> HERE <--

This could mean free candy when stacked with the Target printables!

Target Printable Candy Coupons

A whole slew of new Target printable coupons can be found --> HERE <--

There are a bunch for bags of candy, so if you haven't purchased Halloween candy yet, these should help make a good deal!  Also, they don't expire until 11/7, so watch for after Halloween sales to use these on.

My church has a Harvest Party for the kids (and the kids at heart!), and they ask for donations of bagged candy, so I have been collecting the various Target coupons and newspaper coupons to stack with in hopes of a great sale this week.  We'll see!

I was at Wal*Mart earlier and saw their candy was $2.50 per bag.  Target's is $2.59 (when not on sale), so paired with these coupons Target has the better deal.

Cash Wise $0.50 or $1.00 Tortillas

Earlier this week during my Cash Wise run I found Reser's Baja Cafe Flour Tortillas were on sale.

The large Burrito Size were $2/4, or $2 each
And the smaller Taco size were $2/3, or $1.50 each

Directly above them was a tear-pad for $1.00 off any Reser's product.

That means these tortillas are just $1.00 or $0.50 each!  They freeze very well.

Needless to say, I stocked up! :)  I just might even get more today when I go back for the System Saver and the adjustment on the coupon.

Sonora's Mexican Restaurant Lunch Buffet

 A personal review:

This family loves us some Mexican food.

And there is NONE better than our local joint, Sonora's.  Everything is fresh, hot, and delicious.  I've never had a bad meal from there.  In addition to that, the owners are local.  I love supporting a local family.

And they are nice.  Very, very nice.  They "know" us.  They know what we order.  They greet us like an old friend when we walk in.

To our delight, they are now offering a lunch buffet!  For $7.50, an all you can eat Mexican buffet.

Joe, Henry and I went today.  Because Henry is 2 (and under), he is free.  The buffet was loaded with various dishes, along with some "traditional" buffet food of fruit, salad, etc.

Nachos, refried beans, rice, quesadillas, fajitas, burritos, chimichangas, and more.

We all ate, and ate, and ate.  Hot and delicious.  I don't think we are going to need dinner tonight! :)

Our bill was $15.98 with taxWe usually end up spending almost that much at McDonald's or Quiznos.  What a great addition to Hutchinson's lunch options!

Cash Wise Foods Frosted Mini Wheats Deal

I didn't realize this deal when I was doing my match-ups, but there is a good deal on Kellogg's Mini Wheats!

That's 2 boxes for just $3.50 or $1.75 each

Thursday's Goals

I didn't forget about putting up today's goals-but I just haven't gotten to it! :)

It's been a busy morning.  Joe woke up with some eye pain, so he's been taking it easy at work, which means we've been running all over and I haven't been on the computer much.

Today's goals are:
-Get email to under 50 - I didn't get this done yesterday.  I'm down to about 74.
-Clean kitchen.  I clean my kitchen everyday, but this is scrubbbbbbbing.  Front of cabinets, behind the coffee pot, under the toaster, floor, etc.
-RSVP to a friend's baby shower (to do folder)
-Run to Cash Wise to take advantage of the Morton System Saver deal and give them the coupon for the free 4 cups of yogurt I forgot to give them on Tuesday.  Oops!  That's $2!
-Print a whole mess of coupons
-Get $0.02 stamps - this is done!  Finally!  I also mailed out the rebate for the Johnson's Bath Toy that I spoke of -->  HERE <--

And speaking of Johnson's Baby Products, in case you don't have the $1 off coupon from the 9/13 RP, $30 Weekly Grocery Challenge posted a link to a printable located --> HERE <--, thanks!!

I'll be sure to post a blog when I receive the bath toy!

Free Lorac Bronzer or Couture Lipstick from Sephora (JCPenny)

I saw on Hey, it's Free! a post on a free sample of either Lorac Bronzer, or Couture Lipstick.

It's a PDF coupon that you simply take to your local JCPenny's Sephora counter.  The coupon does not say a purchase is necessary; however, it does list that only one is good "per purchase" - I am assuming this means per visit / transaction.

Print out the coupon --> HERE <--

Unfortunately, the closest JCPenny with a Sephora counter is Eden Prairie Center - Hutchinson's does not have a Sephora counter.

Free at Target Kashi Go Lean Crunch Cereal

Dove Soap + Body Wash only $2.48

I just got back from a great Target run, I hope to post more details on that later; however, I have to share one of my best finds!

On the end cap, I found 8 bars of Dove soap, with a free Dove Gentle Exfoliating body wash package marked down on clearance to just $3.74.  Originally, $7.49 (the same price as just the 8 bars of soap).

Stack this with the 10/4 RP $1.25 off Dove 6 pack (or larger) bars and your final cost is just $2.48!

Target - More cheap Chex Mix!

Money Saving Madness has a post on how to get free Chex Mix from Target!  This involves a price match to the Walgreens flyer.  Since Hutchinson does not have a Walgreens, this wouldn't fly; however, the Chex Mix is still very, very cheap!

Here are 4 links to printable $0.50/1 Chex Mix coupons: here, here, here and here.

Money Saving Madness reports that if you have not printed these before, you should be able to print a total of 14 per computer!

There is also a $.50/1 coupon in the 9/13 Red Plum and a $1/2 coupon in the 10/4 Red Plum.

Next print your $1/1 Chex Mix Target coupons HERE. Be sure to print as many Target coupons as manufacturer coupons so that you can stack them for a total of $1.50 off per bag.

Tuesday's Goals

My first day as a SAHM went well.  Very well!

I accomplished all my goals, plus a few things.  I am exhausted, but I have a smile on my face and I'm looking forward to tomorrow.

Here is a short schedule for tomorrow:
-Breakfast and Bible Study. This morning I started with the story of Samson defeating the lion.  I am going to keep on this story for the rest of the week, and incorporate the art activity to the same theme.  Today I just found a coloring page online that Henry colored and put stickers on.
-Grocery shopping in late morning (over Joe's lunch break?)
-Lunch
-Afternoon art activity (perhaps using tissue paper to paste to a lion's mane), reading, and play

And my goals:
-Clean entry way
-Make grocery and Target lists
-Organize desk (eek!)
-Get email inbox down to less than 100 emails.

Monday's Goals

I am going to set daily/weekly goals for myself now that I'm a SAHM.  I am uncertain of how my days will pan out, I'm a bit nervous about the lack of structure, so I am attempting to make some....I'm setting my goals pretty low for each day until I have a feeling of what I can accomplish with a 2 year old in tow!

Monday, October 18, 2009
-Morning of breakfast, Bible Study, getting ready, Playhouse Disney
-Henry Dr. Appt at 10:15 am
-Lunch (sandwiches, soup, leftover buffet)
-Henry nap time, I will get caught up on emails, core and freeze strawberries, clean bathroom.
-After nap, start on dinner, have Henry "help".

Goals:
-Bible Study during breakfast
-Get emails down to less than 200 (!!!)
-Deal with strawberries
-Clean bathroom

Menu Plan Monday

It is SUNDAY, and I'm doing Menu Plan MONDAY!  Shocker!!!  I'm ahead of the game.
(but only in this department, you don't even want to see my kitchen...)

Today is my first week as a Stay At Home Mom.  I'm hopefully going to stick closer to the plans than in previous weeks. :)

Here is what I have in mind for this week:

-Southwest Roll-ups with spanish rice and tortilla chips (thanks Money Saving Mom for the recipe!)

-Turkey sloppy joes with mashed potatoes (hubby made mashed potatoes that are soooo good.  We froze a bunch too!) and veggie

-Chicken burgers with baked potato fries and veggie

-Chicken stir-fry with rice (or maybe I will do Orange Chicken.  I've been meaning to, for a surprise for hubby, but haven't yet!)

-Eggs, bacon, pancakes, fried potatoes

-Eat out

-I am near certain I have a pot roast in the deep freeze.  If so, pot roast in the crock with baked potatoes, veggie.  If we don't...uh...well...perhaps Chicken Parmesan!

Lots of chicken.  I am hoping turkey and ham goes on sale soon. :)

Sunshine Rewards

I belong to a few online programs that earn me a few dollars here and there by doing simple things, like reading emails, taking surveys, shopping through their sites, etc.  One of them that I joined fairly recently is called Sunshine Rewards.

Sunshine Rewards is a great program.  There are daily surveys, contests, clicks, and more.  The forums are awesome and very, very helpful!  The owners of the site are normal, everyday people-who are OFTEN posting on the forums!  It's a business that a stay-at-home Mom started as a means to make some cash for their household.

Who wouldn't want to support that?!

Even better, being that we like to vacation at Disney World, Sunshine Rewards is one of the very, very few online rewards programs that offers Disney Gift Cards as a reward!  Disney Gift Cards can be used ANY Walt Disney Theme Park or store.  I like to have a nice sized gift card with me on all our vacations to help pay for everything from the hotel and park tickets, to food and souvenirs.

Sunshine Rewards is a great site with real rewards.  I highly recommend it!

If you'd like to check it out and sign up, please do so by clicking --> HERE <--  I do earn a slight referral bonus, which I would greatly appreciate!  Their site may be a bit confusing at first, but after clicking around a bit, it's easy to get the hang of.  And be sure to check out the forums-you get 10 cents just for doing so, and it's a great place to learn the ropes!

ShopKo Toy and Halloween Sale

I noticed in this week's flyer, ShopKo is having a Buy 1, get 1 50% off on ALL their toys.
They also have their Halloween/Fall items on sale for 50% off.

I headed over there this afternoon during Henry's nap to scope out what I might find.

There is a big selection of costumes!  The costumes original prices are INSANE!  No way, no how would I spend $40 on a costume!  I could barely choke up to hand $20 over for one.  But I did.  And it's cute.  And it fits well.  And Henry loves it.  I'm sure he'll wear it for dress-up in the future.  So, it's almost worth $20.  He's be stylin' at the church Harvest Party in a couple weeks.

I also found a ton of toys on clearance.  For Christmas, I purchased a Mr. Potato Head ($6.99) with a $2.00 coupon found here, and a Cars book that has a steering wheel, and tons of noises, for $10.  The book was a bit steep, but I  know he'll enjoy it.  ShopKo also had the DanceCam (on clearance for $29.99-the coupon is for another $10 off!), the Glow Worm and DinoRoars you can find coupons for all of those here.

I may go back and purchase a few more toys, the DinoRoars for my nephew possibly.  2 Matchbox cars would only be about $1.50 and they make great stocking stuffers.  ShopKo also has quite a few Leapster items on clearance that may end up being a great deal paired with the coupons I mentioned here.

Overall, a costume and two toys for $37.  The original cost would have been over $50.  I wasn't thrilled with the final cost, but I know they are all things we will use, and my little one will enjoy--better than spending less money on things he won't like!

Taco John's Deals

The other night we went to Taco John's for dinner.

I wasn't too excited about eating here at first - but it truly turned into a great meal!

First, if you go to http://www.tacojohns.com/maniacs/#/signup you can join their Potato Oles Maniac's and receive a free, any size, Potato Oles on your next purchase!

Second, the Taco John's here in Hutchinson is offering great deals all week long.  You can find discounted meal items any day of the week ranging from $0.69 to just over a $1.00.  Pair this with the free Oles and you've got a cheap meal!

Third, though I am not a student, I thought this was a great deal - the "Starving Student" combo.  $2.99 will buy you a taco, small Oles and a small drink.  Everyday.  Just show your student ID.

And fourth, there was a sign in the bathroom that made me grin.  Next to the sink it mentioned that all employees must wash their hands if they go into the bathroom for ANY reason.  Any at all.  In addition to that, they also must wash their hands a second time at the sink in the kitchen.  I like me a clean restaurant.

And the service was excellent to boot!

I love blogging because of the people you can meet, the online community that is formed, the amazing things I learn, and it truly helps keep me organized!  I like to do a quick post on coupons other bloggers mention - or deals I have found around town.  I re-read my blog later to remind me to take advantage of some of those deals!  I love reading recipe and food blogs that encourage me to stretchhhhhh my imagination a bit in the kitchen!
My blog is fairly new, and I have not made it known to much of anyone.  I have had a few people stumble upon me-which is wonderful!  I hope to make this blog a bit of a "one stop spot" for people in my small town to see what the best deals are around here.  Our town has been hit HARD by the economy, and I know there are more families than just ours learning how to make a dollar go further.
Here are a few of the awesome blogs I like to read-passing on the award:
North Dakota Frugal Mom - a fellow Cash Wise shopper/deal poster
$30 Weekly Grocery Challenge - this was one of the first "money saving" blogs I found, and I recall my jaw dropping a bit at being able to live on only $30.  Now, I've learned - it is possible!  Very encouraging and lots of great deals found here!

Meal Planning with Connie - a wonderful blog to encourage me to keep doing the meal planning, and lots of awesome recipes!
